Recently picked up these cans.

They measure 4 inches in height and 4 inches across.About the sixe of a small quart of paint.

Have seen an article on some cans that have matches in them.Twelve boxes of stick matches per can

The cans are light weight and do "rattle" from the inside contents.

The cans have side soldered seam.

No writing at all describing contents at all.

No key or tab to open from the side.

Must be opened with a can opener(P38?)

Boat or survival kit issue? Accessory tin? WW1-WW2?

So...anyone have any ideas???

Would these contain individual packs?

When shaking the cans you can hear a definate movement of something smaller with in the cans

Getting back to the original subject of this post, I just saw something interesting on youtube. There is a guy on youtube that goes by the name of Steve1989 who opens and eats some components of different types of military rations. If you have never seen any of his videos he is well worth checking out. Anyway, he just posted a video where he opens and eats the Breakfast, Dinner & Supper marked C Rats. His research says that these rations were manufactured 1944/1945. He opens 6 cans in the video and it is interesting to see what was packed inside. I could never figure out how to post a link on this forum but if you search youtube for Steve1989 you should be able to find it.

posted yesterday, no wonder i hadn't seen it!

i really enjoy the fact that about any ration i might have my eye on buying he's most likely opened and posted it on youtube. i live vicariously through him and thus, my rations can stay sealed!
