ThompsonSavage Posted June 14, 2014 Share #1 Posted June 14, 2014 I bought my mint M41 jacket for about $200 a couple of years ago. Did the M41 market rise that much or did this example have something I missed that drove the price up so high? It was a private listing so you couldn't tell if there was a bidding war. Nice jacket though...

rambob Posted June 15, 2014 Share #3 Posted June 15, 2014 I believe the price is high but not outrageous and you will never find a better example of this jacket ever. If you really needed it to fill out your collection, the price hurts a bit but is worth paying. Bob
doyler Posted June 15, 2014 Share #4 Posted June 15, 2014 Never say Never.......... Heres mine from a 17th Airborne vet.he sent it home in 1943 with an unissued jump suit.Unworn til he loaned it to their "unit historians" for display. One clown ended up wearing it to ceremonies at Ft.Snelling as it fit him.Its a size 44 jacket.I also own it and the trousers. I also have two M43s in size 42 that are full of cutters tags. They were dated late 1945 but never worn.
rambob Posted June 15, 2014 Share #5 Posted June 15, 2014 Doyler, Nice jacket and I have an almost identical mint example with cutters tags also. What I was trying to say was not that you can't find the jackets in mint condition anymore, because obviously we did, but it was that the jacket highlighted was as crispy, mint as you could expect to find anymore. However with the extra cutters tags on the outside of yours, I would rate it even better. BTW. Here are my two mint M1943's. Bob

David D Posted June 15, 2014 Share #7 Posted June 15, 2014 The M41 jacket market has risen, I got used one for more than you paid for the mint unissued one. -Dave
David D Posted June 15, 2014 Share #8 Posted June 15, 2014 Mine, it is slightly used but still pretty good condition with some nice M1936 suspenders on it. Please excuse my treadmill in the back ground. -Dave
doyler Posted June 15, 2014 Share #9 Posted June 15, 2014 Rambob Those are super M43 jackets. Thanks for posting them.Great to see them. I agree with you that these 41 jackets are hard to find in unworn condition and the crisp ones even less common these days.I guess there are still deep pockets out there for people who want the best.If your collecting items for a fortified display or like a friend who only collects stuff with cutters tags that was the jacket to have.Wonder if there will be any others come to auction after this one sold? everforward Posted June 15, 2014 Share #10 Posted June 15, 2014 I would imagine a mint/unissued M38 (parsons) might go for more than that...if any still exist.
1930artdeco Posted June 19, 2014 Share #11 Posted June 19, 2014 Are these the 'tanker jackets'? Mike
doyler Posted June 19, 2014 Share #12 Posted June 19, 2014 Are these the 'tanker jackets'? Mike No the 38 and 41 were field jackets. The tanker is a type of field jacket as well but is more commonly called a tankers jacket but in reality was a cold weather combat jacket. You see a lot of tankers wearing them so its gotten that title over the years.Tankers jackets have knit collar and knit cuffs and a heavier wool liner than the M41 jackets. ThompsonSavage Posted June 19, 2014 Author Share #13 Posted June 19, 2014 From the QM catalog: tanker (winter combat jacket) on the left, M41 on the right .

Burning Hazard Posted June 20, 2014 Share #17 Posted June 20, 2014 I got a nice unissued M41 for under $200 about a year ago; unfortunately there's no cutter tags. Pics might be a bit small.

2ndInf.Div. Posted June 24, 2014 Share #19 Posted June 24, 2014 Price is a bit high, but doesn't that look like an M41 with the heavier style cotton shell?
