TLeo Posted June 14, 2014 Share #1 Posted June 14, 2014 In looking at a WW2 Marine's records I notice that he received a score of 58 on Bayonet course, Marksman on rifle and just familiarization on carbine. In trying to restore his basic badge (his photo only shows two bars) would anyone know if that bayonet score be a qualification or not? Just wanting to figure out which two bars to hang on the badge and if the bayonet score is un-qual that answers that question.
Jumpin Jack Posted June 14, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 14, 2014 I would think that familiarization with the carbine does not warrant a qualification bar. Jack
TLeo Posted June 14, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted June 14, 2014 I would think that familiarization with the carbine does not warrant a qualification bar. Jack I think that makes sense now that I think about it. It's just that there is no remark of qual or unqual (or pass/fail) beside the bayonet listing which has me wondering which of the two it would be. thanks for the advice. Looks like I need to find a mm-rifle bar
teufelhunde.ret Posted June 15, 2014 Share #4 Posted June 15, 2014 Unless stated elsewhere, yes he would rate the qual bar having satisfactory completion of the course.

Okay thanks, then that takes me back to the first question....I usually see either notations of qual or un-qual on these bayonet listings but since there is an actual score, is that passing or failing score? Anybody know?
teufelhunde.ret Posted June 15, 2014 Share #6 Posted June 15, 2014 The 37 uniform regs, and any subsequent revisions or additions should cover that?
