Stinger Gunner USMC

Here is my weekend pickup from a local estate auction

two trunk grouping of 1st Lt Perry Gordon Glunt and his wife, Captain Virginia (Connor) Glunt, USAF.

Lt. Glunt was an artillery officer in the ETO and served in the 744th Artillery Bn under 3rd Army and transferred to 60th Artillery Bn of the 9th ID for early occupation duty His trunk grouping consists of his Officers overcoat, his combat worn M41! his pinks and greens service uniform with barracks cover and German made 60th Artillery DI's, his pinks and greens Ike uniform with garrison covers, his Khaki uniform with German made ribbon bar and 60th Artillery DI's and barracks cover. then there is his wife's foot locker as well with here complete Captains Flight Nurse's uniform dated 1951 with Korean War ribbon bar. Unfortunately I missed his 744th unit history and a trash bag full of his wartime photographs, I'm hoping they pop up on eBay in the coming weeks!

It also appears that one of their brothers may have been in Korea with the Marines as there was this small grouping of USMC items in a watch box

Virginia Glunt was a Flight Nurse, but I will have to pull her file from NARA to find out what unit she served with

20+ years of collecting and I have never seen this before: German ribbon material used to back the sewn on 1/2" ribbon bar

some of the stickers on his trunk show that it traveled through Europe with Lt. Glunt

both barracks covers have very supple leather bills, sweat bands, and decorative chin straps as well as the harder to find functional chin straps

That's a neat group - especially the flight nurse uniform..normally don't see those with all the bling intact.

Who finds 3 groupings at one time ?

Amazing find at the very least.

Love the German made DI's and numbered cannons.

Outstanding grouping, James! Interesting that he used the Eastern Front ribbon as the backing on his ribbon bar.

Must be the week of husband and wife groupings. I just found an similar one where the husband was a Captain (15th AAF) and wife was a 1st Lt flight nurse (5th AAF).

Congrats on your find and hopefully you can locate the photos!
