hirsca Posted June 1, 2014 Share #1 Posted June 1, 2014 Picked this up yesterday with a 1945 G.P.&F. Co canteen nested in it. I have seen the fully rolled and the later flared cup lips, but this one seems to be in the middle of the two. A new one to me, rolled, but not tucked all the way under. Is this a transition from the fully rolled to the flared lip? Thanks, Al.
'Flage Guy Posted June 1, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 1, 2014 Al- what you have there is indeed something of a transitional Cup. It's made of steel, and plated with tin; it was replaced by the Stainless Steel Cup pretty early on in 1943. Looks like you got a nice one! I have a few of these, including the one I used in the Scouts.
doyler Posted June 1, 2014 Share #3 Posted June 1, 2014 Flags is correct. We have discussed these here previously.I often encounter this style mated to the plastic or enamel canteens.
