t_player Posted May 30, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 30, 2014 Picked up this well worn and used AN-H-15 flight helmet and throat mike. Don't know what the sewn on blue star represents?

Brig Posted May 30, 2014 Share #3 Posted May 30, 2014 He may have sewn it on because he was Jewish, perhaps to flaunt at Germans as he shot them down

gwb123 Posted May 31, 2014 Share #8 Posted May 31, 2014 Your right it could be a Jewish star! That would be a Star of David.
AZPhil Posted May 31, 2014 Share #9 Posted May 31, 2014 That would be a Star of David. Bingo! Also called the Magen David. I think what was mentioned about service with the early IAF maybe the answer. Especially with the White background behind the Blue star. I think the last thing a Jewish member of a WW2 crew would want on his head if he had to bail out over Germany would be this on his helmet. gwb123 Posted May 31, 2014 Share #11 Posted May 31, 2014 A few years back, there were a number of US WWII tanker helmets that popped up on the market... with Hebrew lettering. All were Israeli Army surplus. Collectors scrambled for them, and then tried to figure out how to remove the ink markings.
