A recent find and a great addition to my collection! not a regulation jacket but there was definitely some work put into it.

my favorite is the patch with the USS Staten Island UMI patch sewn onto a USS Glacier patch (originally would have said AGB 4)

let me know what you think!

The 83rd FIS kind of confuses me? Double service member, USN, USAF?

And what about the Army patch below the flag on the left sleeve?

I know the USS Staten Island carried USN,USMC,US Army and USAF personnel on their Operation Deep Freeze treks. The 83rd FIS patch now confuses me as a little digging does not show any relationship to Icebreaking support. I am now not sure about the US Army patch....but the jacket is salty and somebody loved wearing it!

I am going to keep digging...and see if I can put the pieces together!

just with the little detective work I have put into it....that 83rd FIS patch looks like it has some value!

Sometimes it is not good to take these things too literally.

The owner may of had a good friend or a brother in the USAF or the US Army. With a souvenir jacket, you could put anything you wanted to on it.
