siege1863 Posted June 7, 2008 Share #1 Posted June 7, 2008 This fantastic toy machine gun arrived yesterday. It is hand made of scrap wood from an old table. The receiver, grip, and cradle are from the top. The barrel is fashioned from one of the legs. Some of the metal hardware looks like it could have come from the table as well. The gun pivots on the tripod and, by loosening the wingnut on the cradle, it can also be elevated. I was fortunate to get from the seller the name of the boy who owned the gun (still alive at age 73!); the name of his father who made it; and when the boy got it at age 7 or 8 (1942 or 1943). In the same purchase, I received two wonderful handmade airplanes given to the boy by his father. These I will post separately.
