hirsca Posted May 24, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 24, 2014 This small patch was in a grouping of US WW2 SSI that I acquired today at the estate sale of a WW2 Veteran. It measures approx. 2.5" by 1.5." I have not been able to find it with Google searching. I'm not even sure if it is US. Can anyone please ID it for me? Thanks, Al.
Patchcollector Posted May 24, 2014 Share #2 Posted May 24, 2014 Some sort of Military Academy?
hirsca Posted May 24, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted May 24, 2014 Some sort of Military Academy? I thought so too, but had no luck searching. I wonder if the word "watch" at the bottom has some significance for an ID? Thanks, Al.
Johnny Signor Posted May 25, 2014 Share #4 Posted May 25, 2014 Watch" is probably the motto the Academy chose for the emblem , most likely a "State" or specifically "P" named academy , it'll be online somewhere it's just one of those "needle in the haystack" types .......................... I have a few in that category I''m still working on too ..............................

Johnny Signor Posted May 25, 2014 Share #7 Posted May 25, 2014 You may also want to try schools and colleges on this one , ones that have P as the main state/school etc name in them
hirsca Posted May 25, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted May 25, 2014 Thanks guys. I went to the acronym site and looked at all of the PMA's without success. The search continues...... Thanks, Al.
gwb123 Posted May 25, 2014 Share #9 Posted May 25, 2014 It's possible that might have been for the Pennsylvania Military Academy, which is now Widener University. The school seal does not match the design, so this might not be correct. Or the seal may have been changed when the institution reorganized. http://www.widener.edu/about/vision_history/default.aspx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Widener_University

Looking at the history of the institution, it was PMA from 1862-1892, then changed to PMC (College). A bit early for this patch I believe. Thanks for helping. Al.
