Manufactured in 1944-1945, it probably didn't see service in WW2 but they remained in service through the 1960's. With the exception of a 1953 CAMILLUS contract, all leather handled M4's were made in WW2. However, many...many of them were reworked/refinished in the 1950's and '60's for use by US forces and/or use by our allies overseas. When I was buying M4's, and this was several years ago, you sometimes found nice ones with scabbard for not over $100 on ebay. But times have changed so $45 might not be a bad price today for a well used one w/o scabbard. Greg
