MikeK Posted May 22, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 22, 2014 Thought I'd share something from a mainly paperwork group I picked up recently. I spotted the DUI hiding in a poor pic, so I knew it was on the way, but in amongst all the 717thBSq / 449thBG paperwork I found the little packet it came in from Taranto! The airman, a S/Sgt, completed 50 missions (almost 270 hours) in mainly B24s as an Armorer/Gunner. Although no medals came with the group, authorisations for the Air Medal w/ 3 oak leaf clusters, GCM and EAME were included and a PUC ribbon bar was present. Probably not evident in the pic, but his Sharpshooter badge w/ Marksman and Rifle bars are all field made (cast) - something I'd throw away if they'd come in a box of miscellaneous items.
