mvmhm Posted May 18, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 18, 2014 I just posted the military and CCC items of a veteran of both the 45th Infantry Division and 14th Armored Division here: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/209515-todays-stuff-part-ii-45th-id14th-ad-and-ccc-grouping/ Here's his bring backs...well, most of them. I'm sure some have been lost over time. First is a near-mint 3 X 5 Party flag: Mark sends
mvmhm Posted May 18, 2014 Author Share #2 Posted May 18, 2014 Next is a nice Fire Police helmet..unfortunately the liner was yanked a long time ago...maybe even when he brought it back.
mvmhm Posted May 18, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted May 18, 2014 ..a cased Cross of Honor of the German Mother in Gold, along with a nice enameled NSDAP badger.
mvmhm Posted May 18, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted May 18, 2014 ..there's several German post cards...along with these plastic, leather trimmed bags that he labeled for "stamps" stationary", etc....some faint markings in the corners caught my eye..maker's mark and what would appear to be an RBn number:
mvmhm Posted May 18, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted May 18, 2014 This map case is maker marked and dated 1938, and is near mint except for the holes punched in it.
mvmhm Posted May 18, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted May 18, 2014 These were wrapped in a hankie...insignia from an NSDAP visor and a one-winged Army visor eagle. Unfortunately all the pins have been broken off....but it occurred to me.....
mvmhm Posted May 18, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted May 18, 2014 ..the pins were broken because they'd been attached to the map case...the pins match up with the holes like this: it's obvious there was another eagle above the cockade and one to the left...not sure what was on the lower left corner because there's only one hole.....maybe in time some other items will come out of the basement where these have been the past 70 years.... doyler Posted May 18, 2014 Share #8 Posted May 18, 2014 Mark I thought the same thing when I saw the holes. Was very common for the soldiers to decorate holsters and leather cases with pins and rank insignias. Nice additions RON
mvmhm Posted May 18, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted May 18, 2014 Right. I had another one years ago where the outlines where clear as day i.e. Police cap badger...I'm going to try to put the things back on, just not sure how. Mark sends

Rakkasan187 Posted April 15, 2015 Share #11 Posted April 15, 2015 Always enjoy seeing what GI's brought home and often wondered the circumstances that led up to the GI picking up the artifact.. Leigh
