doyler Posted May 15, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 15, 2014 Spoke to a buddy yesterday. He called stating he found a "beret and some pins".He described it and wanted to know what it was.He later sent a picture and it all looked good to me.He stumbles into a lot of odds and ends. Not bad for $10 and tax.Im picking it up later today. Mitch Posted May 15, 2014 Share #5 Posted May 15, 2014 Hi Doyler, What a great group of SVN made pieces. I like it all , the Viet made Navy boards, NAG beret, Riverine beret badge, and the SVN Navy beercan. Great addition to your collection. Congrats. doyler Posted May 15, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted May 15, 2014 THANKS I asked if there were any other items.Thought there may have been some insignias or patches, or a jacket. Often he will over look items in going through the shop(s).He finds some great stuff.I would have asked the person at the shop where it came from and if there were other items.May have to make a call.;-)

vintageproductions Posted May 16, 2014 Share #20 Posted May 16, 2014 Are the boards South Vietnamese or French?
Andrei Posted May 16, 2014 Share #21 Posted May 16, 2014 Are the boards South Vietnamese or French? They do look French... I had a very similar set of boards. Unfortunately, I did not keep pictures. Nice score Doyler !
thefallenbuddha Posted May 19, 2014 Share #22 Posted May 19, 2014 I think the boards are South Vietnamese / Republic of Vietnam Navy. The enlisted personnel had a pattern of boards that were similar to the French style, and were worn through the 1970s. That the boards were Vietnamese tailor made makes me think they are more likely Vietnamese rather than French.
doyler Posted May 19, 2014 Author Share #23 Posted May 19, 2014 I agree. From viewing other boards I also believe them SVN.I have found officers style made the same with the white backing.I can see the heavy French influence in the design as well. Thanks for commenting.
