Battalion Guidon - 311th Military Intelligence Bn / 101st Airborne Division

Made a trip to put some excess stuff in our storage unit, when I found this among some items I had forgotten about.

 

This is a guidon from the 311th Military Intelligence Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault)

 

I served with this battalion from 2001 to 2004, as the 101st Airborne Div G2 Analysis and Control Element (ACE) NCOIC, as Battalion Operations NCOIC, as a First Sergeant and (briefly) as acting Battalion Command Sergeant Major.

 

Shortly after I moved on to my next assignment (in 2004), the 101st reconfigured itself, and certain battalions were disbanded and reorganized. This affected the Intelligence, Signal and Air Defense battalions.

 

The 311th MI Battalion was re-designated as the 311th Brigade Troop Battalion, and was placed under one of the 101st Airborne Division's combat brigades.

 

 

This was one of a couple extra guidons, which I snagged before the unit was closed down.

 

Not sure if it has monetary value, however will make a decent item to keep in my home office.
