Tonomachi Posted May 10, 2014 Share #3 Posted May 10, 2014 This 11th Airborne Division trooper is wearing DIs for the 544th Field Artillery Battalion or the 544th Airborne Field Artillery Battalion depending on when the photograph was taken. According to what I found on the Internet the 544th Field Artillery Battalion was assigned to the 11th Airborne Division on June 14, 1950. It was reorganized and redesignated on September 17, 1953 as the 544th Airborne Field Artillery Battalion. It was released from the 11th Airborne Division and inactivated in Germany on March 1, 1957. Nice photo as I've never seen this DI being worn by an 11th Airborne Division trooper.
