Kilroy56 Posted May 9, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 9, 2014 Hello all, This set of senior pilot's was found recently. In spite of the "capped" posts , I can see some solder. I therefore assume these are late WW2 era wings. Any idea about the maker? Thank you, Dominique
tomcatter Posted May 9, 2014 Share #2 Posted May 9, 2014 Hi Dominique, hard to tell from little photos, this pattern might be from WWII as well as 1950's.You should look at the pin lenght:usually, from late WWII to Korea War pins were short (4-6 mm), whereas from 1950's to 1960's they were longer (about 1 cm). loveofmylife89 Posted May 9, 2014 Share #3 Posted May 9, 2014 I have my own opinion on these wings I would say being that they are sterling and the style of them from what I can see I would date them between 1946-1952 !! There was a reference somewhere else online to a very similar pair of wings but I do not recall were i saw them !!
BROBS Posted May 9, 2014 Share #4 Posted May 9, 2014 Where are you getting those dates? -Brian
Kilroy56 Posted May 9, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted May 9, 2014 Posts are about 6 mm long. There is a similar pattern wing pictured on B. Schwartz' s excellent website... Regards to all, D.
BROBS Posted May 9, 2014 Share #6 Posted May 9, 2014 I would feel comfortable calling them late ww2 era. Not sure where loveofmylife is coming from... Although apparently nowhere as he appears banned? -Brian
