Garth Thompson Posted May 5, 2014 Share #3 Posted May 5, 2014 The Westwind was a Polar icebreaker. It was decommissioned 1988 and reportedly broken up for scrap. The two helicopters are HH-52s which were in use in 1978. These are painted orange for the Arctic and Antarctic deployments. It is easier to find a crashed one that is orange in the white snow fields. They were affectionately known as the single motor, single rotor orange and white people totter.
