AZPhil Posted April 29, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 29, 2014 Hello Gent's I just wanted to know if an A11 without the Army Air Force stamp is still a good A11 or did they all have that white stamp on them? This pic is from this site and I hope Mathieu doesn't mind me using it to clarify my question. Semper Fi Phil
SergeantMajorGray Posted April 29, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 29, 2014 I believe they all have that mine does at least. Mine also has the same stamp inside the helmet with black ink.
AZPhil Posted April 29, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted April 29, 2014 Thanks SgtMaj. So If I found one for sale and it did not have this stamp. Should I walk away? One more? So was this stamp an USAAF acceptance stamp? Semper Fi Phil
SergeantMajorGray Posted April 30, 2014 Share #4 Posted April 30, 2014 Thanks SgtMaj. So If I found one for sale and it did not have this stamp. Should I walk away? One more? So was this stamp an USAAF acceptance stamp? Semper Fi Phil The stamp may have just worn off. I don't think anyone does or has made a very accurate reproduction. As for if it's a acceptance stamp I"m not sure but you see a similar stamp on pretty much every model of Army flight helmet.
doyler Posted April 30, 2014 Share #5 Posted April 30, 2014 Many were just a decal.Worn off easily.Missing decals are common. Not a real issue. Spec tags are usually present.
AZPhil Posted April 30, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted April 30, 2014 Thanks Doyler? There is a spec tag on this one with Spec 44-6548-AF. So if right It should be a 1944 production. But there are no AAF stamps. This is what has me wondering if I should pay good money for it. Semper Fi Phil
