Leatherwringer Posted April 22, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 22, 2014 I did some reading here on the forum and found that the numerals were only used on the USMC Expeditionary ribbons for a short time...then the subsequent awards switched to stars. Do you think this ribbon bar is kosher? It is old, and looks to have been like this for a long time but I am wondering if this bar looks good? thanks for the help/opinions
Brig Posted April 22, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 22, 2014 Bar looks good to me. Many Marines continued to use numerals on their Expeditionary Medals and Good Conducts after the regs switched to stars. He may have gotten out and come back in for WWII
Allan H. Posted April 22, 2014 Share #3 Posted April 22, 2014 I don't like the numeral. It looks like a modern number. The old ones are smooth, not voided in the center. The rest of the ribbons are WWII though. Allan
Leatherwringer Posted April 22, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted April 22, 2014 while searching, I did not find any pictures of a numbered ribbon...anyone have one to throw in here for reference? thanks
Bruce Linz Posted April 22, 2014 Share #5 Posted April 22, 2014 Hello, I agree with Allan, WWII ribbons and star, modern number "3". Looks like it came off an Air Medal. Semper Fi, Bruce Linz
KASTAUFFER Posted April 22, 2014 Share #6 Posted April 22, 2014 Here is a thread with lots of examples. You can see from the ribbons on this thread, what the numbers should look like. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/61331-campaign-numerals-on-ww2-navy-ribbon-bars/?hl=%2Bribbon+%2Bbar+%2Bnumeral+%2Bnavy Kurt
