This is the first Unit-marked Shelter Half I've scored.

I have a unis marked sea bag for a Marine that was in the 3rd Tank Battalion and it has FRAY-83-HEAVY marked on it, so do you or anyone else know what this means? My sea bag is also marked <633>.

Here's a UNIS-stenciled piece I forgot to put up here; was blessed with it well after this thread got started.

Although it was issued, this 1920 Mills Cartridge Belt is still very clean, stenciled with a 3rd Marine Division designation.

This is the only 3rdMarDiv UNIS-marked item in the whole pile.

Below, the Belt itself, and as it is now displayed on the "Poncho box" with other assorted gear.

I believe that's a 1st MarDiv unis mark as it's been discovered that theirs and the 3rd MarDiv's markings are reversed. I have several 3rd MarDiv unis marked items and they're all horizontal diamond markings. It's also unusual that is only has two digits inside the marking as I've only seen three digits inside any markings, with the exception of the 5th MarDiv which sometimes have four digits.

What's the letter "C" above the unis marking? I thought that was where rank numbers were put.

Corpsman. I have seen other examples of Corpsmen using the letter C in this way.

Wow- If that's the case, whoever made this little glossary got the Unit symbols backward, as that's what I was going by 😬

Thanks for the input!

LOL- thanks, man! As I understand, these were the first alien toys ever made, by J.H. Miller in the mid-50s. We had them when we were kids, as well as Miller Dinosaurs (15 cents each), but they were made of hollow waxy plastic, so they didn't survive- it took a "little" bit more than 15 cents each to gather them all up again in recent years!

Looks like you've got some expensive ones yourself!

Those are really nice, and I love the fact you have gone back to your child hood toys and recollected them.
something special with reconnecting and recollecting, something I really respect.

Here is another unis marking but with A in it. I have his records also D655DC15-60CA-4FA2-AF5B-F31B18FF23C9.png.70bcdc2c6873ee902279fbfe4992eacf.png

That's the first 1stMarDiv unis mark I've seen used during the war with the proper symbol. It seems the 1st MarDiv used the unis markings more often post war from what I've seen.

My 1st Tank Battalion marked sea bag doesn't use a unis symbol.

Nice to see this thread resurface! I’ve sold off most of my UNIS marked items but have kept my favorites and have even added a few more.

Thank you!! I did it the most inefficient way possible.. All the canteens were already on the belt while I was trying to hang it. After many choice words and some sweat it dawned on me that I probably should have hung the belt up first and put each on individually.. [emoji28]
