'Flage Guy

Here's my WW2 USMC shelter half(43 dated). Not sure what it means but if anyone knows that would be great if they could let me know(Im assuming that Frays is the Marines last name).

KND, I knew there was another member here who had a similarly stenciled Half to the one I picked up recently (below), but I forgot who...a small world indeed!

Here is the main reason I bid on it- a posterboard spec tag...?!

Cool that you found the 'other half' named to Fray, Flage guy! I have never seen a spec tag like that before? Amazing it has survived! Great find!

That's a really nice shelter half. I found out what that marking means. Its a shipping marking. Also I really like the tag on yours. I saw another one with a posterboard tag like yours here on the forum. Might have been yours not sure. Also im really glad that this thread is alive again. A lot of nice pieces being posted.

Aah, so the mystery is solved! I guess my search for a Unit-marked Half continues. Thanks for the enlightenment!

Yeah, I put pics of the paper tag up in the Reference Section on U.S.M.C. Shelter Halves. But still, maybe there's someone else among us who has one. Powers & Co. had to have turned out more than just one like that!

LOL...I wonder how many of these are out there :D On one hand, I couldn't see how the paper tags could survive; however, mine is a well-used Half which has even been patched in a few places (still with good color though, below), so there has to be more of them out there somewhere...?

I wish you Good Hunting!!

A new addition is this lovely 'salty' carbine pouch. I am certain the markings are 14th Marines, maybe PFC also with the number 1 above? Not sure what the red '707' represents? Any comments will be welcome!

Thanks

Graham

Thought I'd post my 4th Marine Division Canteen covers. The middle three are named and researched, Second from left was on Iwo Jima, middle was on Okinawa, and second from the right was possibly on Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima.

Here's a 1943 dated Jungle first aid pouch with what looks to be a UNIS mark on the back, and a carbine pouch with another UNIS mark.
