China Horse Marine Silver Horsemanship Cup

Here is the silver cup won by John R. Angstadt for Horsemanship riding "Good Chance" at Peiping China on 20 April 1937. The photograph is of "Good Chance" and John R. Angstadt. Angstadt served as a member of the Mounted Detachment from 1934-1937. The photographs may be enlarged by clicking on them.

You are correct. All of the horses used by the Mounted Detachment were "ponies." Here is what was written about the ponies in the 1934 American Embassy Guard Annual and a photograph of the MD in line.
