Steve D. Posted April 8, 2015 Share #60 Posted April 8, 2015 When I discovered, (through this posting) that the above two pouches were fakes, I listed them on ebay as Reproductions and sold both of them. They were sold to a collector in Europe. I also sold him two more that were also made with Carr snaps. My point is: Buyer beware! Don't make the same mistake I made. These things look good, but upon careful examination, they are fake. None of them had Carr stamped snaps on the backs of the inside male snaps. Clearly, the near mint Type III pouch ( that I purchased for $900.) has both Carr marked Male snaps, and a design much more similar to the Type II's. m1a2u2 Posted August 31, 2017 Share #61 Posted August 31, 2017 Sold on ebay....Do the fakes have any type of marking on the male side of the snaps that say RAU FASTENER CO. PROV. RI? or should they say something else? Not sure that RAU was ever used on the FAP so wondering if it's a fake.
collector Posted September 3, 2017 Share #62 Posted September 3, 2017 Excellent thread, I agree that it should be pinned or added to the REF section! Thanks Steve1987 for starting it.
Steve1987 Posted September 3, 2017 Author Share #63 Posted September 3, 2017 m1a2u2: That one that just sold on e-bay is not one I would be comfortable with, probably done by the same faker as most of the others. Thanks for bumping the thread. My collection of DQP bandage pouches has grown a lot over the last couple years, I will try to post more photos soon with all the different markings you may encounter inside of them. Unfortunately the resident expert on these Terry 'Bagman' has passed away. He was the one who helped me make this, and deserves the credit of being the first one who discovered and busted the fakes. Steve1987 Posted September 5, 2017 Author Share #64 Posted September 5, 2017 As promised, here is a short update to the thread with some of my all time favourites and best finds. A few of these once belonged to Bagman. Some of my pouches came with bandages in them, some I added the correct Navy bandages for display. And I never got around to another thread, but here's some original shovel covers for reference as well. These ones I'm confident are all untouched original USMC items, unlike some of the junk being passed off as original on e-bay. JayAech Posted June 17, 2022 Share #68 Posted June 17, 2022 Hey @Steve1987 - Dropped you a message with a question about your pouch. This is the best reference for these I've ever seen! Thank you!
