Sully Posted April 7, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 7, 2014 I have no idea what these are. My best guess is some sort of mountain pants. There is a QM tag and a size tag, no other nomenclature. The size is 34x31. Made of a faux sheepskin, button and belt closer at waste and pull strings at the cuffs. Anyone? Always looking for WW1 28th Division; anything, papers, field gear, uniforms, etc.

doyler Posted April 7, 2014 Share #3 Posted April 7, 2014 THey look to be a liner for the mountain trousers. There is a parka liner that is similiar but has an ALPACA type lining for the pull over parkas. Also there is a liner for the 3/4 length "trench coat" style parka as well. Sully Posted April 8, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted April 8, 2014 These don't match either the WW2 Alpaca liners or the post war M1951 liner. Could they even be for Air Crews? Always looking for WW1 28th Division; anything, papers, field gear, uniforms, etc.
doyler Posted April 8, 2014 Share #5 Posted April 8, 2014 Not sure The color of the lining and the backing material is like the ones in the full lenth ski parkas. Maybe these are a early or first pattern liner Typically the Air COrps stuff have the AAF type lables. Maybe we can get Craig Pickerall or Paul (BOGHOTS)to chime in In Memoriam:Lieutenant J.Kostelec 1-3 First Special Service Force MIA/PD 4 March 1944 ItalyI HAVE SEEN THE ENEMY AND IT IS DAYLIGHTForget about the tips..We'll get hell to pay (AC/DC)"If you cant get out and run with the big dogs then sit on the porch and bark at the cars going by.." Hi Sully, I believe them to be trousers, field, pile,, a tentative spec date of P.Q.D. No. 367. May 27 1943 designed to be worn with the 1943 o.d. sateen combat uniform but dropped in favor of field wool combat pants worn as liners. mountain troops did have a similar trouser liner but it was closed with buttons on the side hip, unlike yours with the front strap and buckle closure. ken . 'Flage Guy Posted April 12, 2014 Share #8 Posted April 12, 2014 Sully, here are some shots of a variant of what you have, here showing the great similarities between the Trouser Liner and the Liner for the Reversible Parka-Overcoat. 'Flage Guy Posted April 12, 2014 Share #11 Posted April 12, 2014 And the back; I suspect that the loops at the waist are for the Trouser Suspenders to pass through, to prevent the Liners from sliding down and ending up around the wearer's butt... 'Flage Guy Posted April 13, 2014 Share #17 Posted April 13, 2014 General- thanks for the comments! I just looked up these Liners in your reference, and you have 2 variations there, Inner Pile and Outer Pile, something I hadn't caught until now. These things seem to be pretty hard to come by! Sully Posted April 15, 2014 Author Share #18 Posted April 15, 2014 General Apathy and 'Flage Guy, thank you for the info and pictures. I didn't realize how uncommon these are. Any idea how many were produced and who would receive them? Always looking for WW1 28th Division; anything, papers, field gear, uniforms, etc.
