earlymb Posted January 23, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 23, 2007 Hi all, does anyone have original WWII-era pics of a Harley-Davidson XA? This is the type with the 2 horizontal cylinders (often although incorrect called a boxer engine) Harley copied from the BMW R71. About a 1000 XA's were made in 1942 and early 1943. I can find enough pics of restored examples, but I am looking for some of these bikes in actual use. Have any? Please post them here! Johan Willaert Posted January 24, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 24, 2007 David, Here's the one of the 2nd AD Messenger... The bike is marked HQ 66 above 44 (66Armored Regt HQ...) Photo taken during maneuvers in April 1942.. Although the cilinders are only slightly visible, it's identified as an XA by the top mounted BO marker light... Johan Willaert Posted January 25, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 25, 2007 The posts and images of non-XA Models were moved to a separate topic: US Army Motorcycles of WW2
