Love the Denver!!

 

She was my first boat I went to sea on!! I remember feeding the sea-lions on the stern gate. We routinely fed them left overs from the lunch meals. They would jump up on the lowered stern gate to eat.

USS DENVER (LPD-9) America's 911 LPD aka The Oldest Gator in the Swamp, In service 1968 to 2014. After 46 years of service, the Denver was decommissioned at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam on 14 August 2014. At the time of her decommissioning, Denver was the oldest deployable warship in the U.S. Navy, and the last active warship to have been deployed in Vietnam.

Different versions of USS OGDEN (LPD-5) Including her Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup patch

 

Salvaged from an USS OGDEN (LPD-5) Exxon Valdez 1989 clean up cruise jacket.

 

OGDEN was the mother ship during the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill spending 2 months onsite in 1989. She supported over 400 civilians with beds, food, operational command for the Task Force and helicopter support for Task Force 2
