M60 Driver Posted March 18, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 18, 2014 I am still cleaning out my warehouse as I close up my surplus store and finding more miscellaneous items every day. Anyone have any thoughts on this badge? It appears to be a cap badge although it might fit onto a collar of a thick wool uniform coat.
GIl Sanow Posted March 18, 2014 Share #2 Posted March 18, 2014 Around the turn of the century, Army campaign hats were to exhibit the wearer's regimental number and company (vertically -- 2 pieces). In other words, there were no crossed rifles, cannons, etc. This was relatively short-lived. This insignia resembles that, but I cannot ID the V-shaped device between the numeral and letter. It may be a one-piece version of the above-described insignia, or it may be something else. Or, maybe not.... G
atb Posted March 20, 2014 Share #3 Posted March 20, 2014 It looks like someone cut the crossed rifles from a 14th Inf. pattern 1896 cap badge so just the number and letter remain.
