Brig Posted March 17, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 17, 2014 Sold for 82 bucks, single piece button...is this an 1820's? Has to be one of the earliest USMC buttons of this pattern out there, unfortunately I was runner up.

Sadly most of the reverse is gone, cannot tell the maker. By its design, IMHO it dates from the 40s - 70s (based on backmarks design) and the 16 stars which were more common in the 40s. Brig Posted March 19, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted March 19, 2014 Still...a nice, early button. My guess is it was lacquered for 'preservation'
