32nd RCT, Korean War Era items

Recommended Posts

32nd Recondo badge in cloth. This looks good to me in that it has some age to it - but still no photo of this style of badge being worn. Also, one would think this badge, if worn in cloth on fatigues, would have been black thread on OD cloth.

This could be the full color version from the mid to late 60s when color stuff was worn on fatique items.

Here is a recent find - a nicely engraved belt buckle of a fallen Chosin brother.

Corporal Robert Francis Shambaugh - KIA 9/22/1950

Interesting that the buckle says 1948-1951. He might have had this engraved to coincide with the end of his enlistment?

This a great collection of 32nd RCT insignia and what makes it really unique are the photos showing the insignia being worn.

Thanks for posting.

Thank you! Here's a picture I took of my display before I received the buckle above. Chosin! Against All Odds!

Great Chosin items! I have a few but nothing compared to some of the cool ones you've discovered! I love both of the ascots. I would like to get my hands on one of the unofficial "Queens Own" DUIs.

It's been awhile since I've found any new "Chosin" items - but here is my latest addition. 32nd "Recondo" badge in cloth.

Here's a great new addition, wool shirt with skull name tape. I have been looking for quite some time for a complete shirt with one of these tags.

Many thanks to usmf member Nic for finding this bringing it to my attention!

Good picture! First time I think I've seen the 32nd RECONDO used aside from insignia. I also like the use of "Buccaneer!" at the bottom.

When I was in the 32nd the motto was "Chosin" - the Korean War Era "Buccaneer" was forgotten, which is too bad because I like it more.

Do you have a source for the picture? Date?

Gee sorry I don't, it was a random find. Definitely in the 70s though.

Added another unit yearbook, C Co, 1972. Here we see the 32nd IN is now part of the 2nd IN DIV. The 7th IN DIV having returned stateside in 1971.
