TLHSS Posted March 5, 2014 #1 Posted March 5, 2014 I don't post a lot ... because I'm always a bit overwhelmed at what I see on the forum, and my knowledge base isn't the greatest, but I thought I would share this bring-back. This is the one of the only items I have from my dad's service. It was a capture piece from Okinawa. It's a bit tired and last ditch, but it has a special place in my office. Tim
BelligerentBlue Posted March 5, 2014 #4 Posted March 5, 2014 What I love the most about this... it's PRICELESS!! No matter how tired and last ditch it may be! It's like my grandfather's Navy uniform. You'd have to pry it from my cold dead hands. Very nice piece.
Ben@HI Posted March 5, 2014 #8 Posted March 5, 2014 I seem to remember one like this before, its a pretty rare type but I cant remember the number.
uplandmod Posted March 5, 2014 #9 Posted March 5, 2014 Interesting kanji and wonderful rifle. Awesome bring back that is extra special because it came from your dad! LF
Terry K. Posted March 5, 2014 #11 Posted March 5, 2014 Very nice Imperial Naval rifle! Please do not shoot it though as some Navy ones were made with cast recievers and age doesn't help them. Also it could be a training rifle because they had much stock markings saying not to fire live ammo.
m1ashooter Posted March 5, 2014 #12 Posted March 5, 2014 Love it. Its priceless because its your dads. I'm impressed that the buttstock isn't cracked.

I've been told that one of the stock marking states not to fire live ammo, since it was a training rifle. It had some modifications so it could (and did) fire live ammo, but the receiver was made unsafe because of it. Tim
Simon Lerenfort Posted March 5, 2014 #14 Posted March 5, 2014 Nice piece, glad it has pride of place in your office. Thanks for sharing. Kind Regards, Simon
BOLO Posted March 5, 2014 #15 Posted March 5, 2014 I prefer the crude wartime look of the late war firearms, it makes them more unique and interesting , still has the naval markings, not as common as what you usually see , a real battlefield pick up
