doinworkinvans Posted March 3, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 3, 2014 Wanted to share my weekend experience with you all. This weekend me and the lady went down to Wilmington...we go about every other month. So I have seen the North Carolina battleship at least 20 times....but Friday night was just something special...it's never looked so amazing to me. It was truly breath taking to see her on such a beautiful night...she looked as strong as ever.

Garandomatic Posted March 3, 2014 Share #5 Posted March 3, 2014 My whole childhood, I had heard stories of the ship from my dad, who took a trip there long before he took over dairy farming from my grandpa. Dairy farmers get all the time in the world to travel, so long as you are back by 6 or so to milk, so we never made it down when I was a kid. Went in about 2007 with the wife. Better late than never. I really, really, really liked cranking the 40mm around.

SergeantMajorGray Posted March 4, 2014 Share #7 Posted March 4, 2014 I have some news about the battleship the hull is in very much need of repair it's down to about a 1/8th of a inch in some places. So they have to get around 10 million dollars and then the state will give them 6 million to complete the repairs and they will re float the ship (it's currently intentionally stuck in the mud) and they will build a concrete walk way that will go all the way around the ship so you will be able to see the ship from angles you've never seen before. Also I will be repainting the Kingfisher float plane sometime this year.

Garandomatic Posted March 5, 2014 Share #11 Posted March 5, 2014 I'll see if my school here in Ohio can do something. My principal is a good guy, I might just be able to put a can in the classroom and collect change, every little bit has to help, right?
