MWalsh Posted March 5, 2014 Share #10 Posted March 5, 2014 In past years I have had at least two engraved like Bove. I have no reason to think either was a fake. I am 99% sure they were WW2 replacements, maybe 1970's, I think that style was an official one done for only a very short time as few seem to pop up like that. KASTAUFFER Posted March 5, 2014 Share #11 Posted March 5, 2014 I will check the data we used for the Purple Heart engraving article Frank and I collected and published back in 1995. I believe this style was used starting in July 1945. I will double check when I get home. Kurt
KASTAUFFER Posted March 5, 2014 Share #12 Posted March 5, 2014 All the examples we tallied were issued between August 1944 and August 1945. Kurt

KASTAUFFER Posted March 5, 2014 Share #14 Posted March 5, 2014 I don't know about the Bridges medal did they produce medals with just the initials? John Sometimes a persons "legal name" is just initials and a last name. Whenever I have found one engraved like this, I found that it was his actual full name.
