I was wondering if anyone has some information or pictures of officers wearing sew on rank and BOS insignia during WW2. I have seen lots of sew-on BOS insignia for sale and fairly cheap, but I don't want to purchase it for use in reenacting if its not accurate. I have seen it used on Class A coats from time to time, but never on khaki or wool shirts used in the field or as a Class B.

An example of the insignia is posted below.post-151256-0-00311700-1393563450.jpg

Vast quantities of such insignia (e.g., branch, rank, AAF wings) was manufactured in the 40's but very little of it was actually used/worn. Decades ago, every Army-Navy store had boxes of these for sale very cheap. if you're looking to be accurate in your reenacting, "go metal."
