History Man Posted March 3, 2014 Share #195 Posted March 3, 2014 This is me with Don, who was an 82nd airborne veteran who served with them through the war....he intends on making it to the 70th anniversary this June. Meeting the veterans was one of my favorite parts of the show.
History Man Posted March 3, 2014 Share #196 Posted March 3, 2014 Me with Ted Paluch, Malmedy Massacre survivor who served with the 285th F.A.O. during the war. Another great man to talk with.
History Man Posted March 3, 2014 Share #197 Posted March 3, 2014 I was a table-helper at Robert's table, a great time and many chances to handle some top-shelf examples. A great guy who is a true asset to the hobby, thanks again for all of the help.
History Man Posted March 3, 2014 Share #198 Posted March 3, 2014 Last but not least....this is Kurt, Bob, my mother, and I during the last part of the show. It was a great experience and I hope to return year after year to partake. Phiilip

BigJohn#3RD Posted March 3, 2014 Share #200 Posted March 3, 2014 As always had a great time at the show; got to see a lot of old friends again and meet folks that I have been PMing with over the years here. To bad the weather came in so fast; missed saying good by to some of the forum members as every one took off like a star-cluster with the report of the bad weather. Oh ya got to pick up some great stuff to add to my collection and pass on some items to other folks as well. Fist up is my 504 PIR Grouping that I picked up on Wednesday, what first caught my eye was his Job Description: Squad Leader 745 loaded, aimed and fired rifle to destroy enemy personnel and equipment. Placed fire on designated target as situation demanded. Capable of using all hand weapons. Is authorized parachutist. Lead a squad of twelve men in combat. But what closed to deal for me was the unit he received his Purple Heart with the 509th PIB 14 Feb 45, two weeks before the 09 was disbanded and absorbed into other Airborne Divisions to fill their depleted ranks after the hard winter campaign of the Bulge. Having served with the 50th ABCT back in the late 70s I know well their history, first Combat Jump, first Paratrooper to receive the CMoH Paul Huff. This and the picture of the young SSG Combat leader made it something I wanted I to have in my collection of past Warriors.
