Thought this B-10 parachute was pretty cool. Don't know much about prices on these. The guy was asking $1000. Anyone know if this was priced accordingly?

Just got back home to WI, left the show at 3:30 got in at 1:00AM, was a white knuckled ice storm death ride through Indiana and IL, never made it up to more than 40mph or the loaded down brick of my van would start fishtailing.

It was GREAT to see all of the USMF forum members and put more faces to screen names. Everyone I spoke with seemed to find something! For myself I found one of the Wisconsin made fighting knives I collect, an Army/Navy E flag from Willys-Overland, a large son in service factory banner from Armor meats in MN, and a big single star service flag. ( and of course some smaller doo-dads)

I though the show was very good, there were certainly some bargains to be had, but you had to take the time and look for them, ask the dealers if they have something (we had 6 bins of stuff under the tables we could not fit out) There were a lot of US helmets, I saw a real D bail sell, several experimentals in various states, but all with significant prices, some great medal groupings, saw some great fighting knives, a Eureka-rebbeca AB signal thing, lots of AB jackets, a bunch of woman's stuff. Hundreds of Killer patches, several very nice A-2s. If you can't find what you are looking for, you are walking too fast down the seemingly endless aisles. It can be overwhelming. I thought attendance was good, with the added room the aisles don't clog up like before, but that's good, as too many people and no one can see, but every one seemed to have people in it. There is a lot of TR, but that is just the way it is, it is the cash cow. Our tables were about 50% TR, 40% US and 10% Japanese. Most dealers seemed to have a mix, unless they really specialized in something specific. There are fakes and questionable items, just as at any show, but I just try to look past those. It would be nice of everyone there was a USMF forum member and exhibited the knowledge and integrity that this forum is so well known for!

I cut out at 4pm today and hit the road...arrived home at 2:45 am.The SOS lived up to its reputation as the best Military show anywhere...When you walk into that hall with almost 2000 tables of every imaginable collectible...it can overwhelming.I bought my share of items and sold half of what I bought at the show...sold items and quite a few trades...I will post some of my finds later.

I also met a crowd of forum members and the only problem was I was so busy, I could not spend as much time talking to everybody as I would have liked...once you open your tables for business...you will get little chance for anything else.

I congratulate the OVMS club for the upstanding job they do to provide the quality show the SOS is year to year.Thanks.Robert

Got home early last evening. Show was fantastic as always. Sold much and bought much. The layout and the extra room allow for less congestion in the aisles which is great. If you slow down and really look at all the tables there are a great finds to be had. As stated in previous comments the prices can be a bit high but the quality is always good. Seen a number of forum members working the aisles.

This is always a bit of a social event for myself , great to walk around and say hello. If you have never been to the show you should try at least once to get their. One suggestion for the organizers, more food stalls inside the show. Or let the Kentucky Pork Producers inside the show with hot bags to sell sandwiches at the tables..

Now it is time to unload and decompress.

This was my first SOS in several years and it was everything I expected. I was able to find some of everything that I was looking for. However, due to the size of the show and time constraints I was unable to spend as much time talking to friends as much as I would have liked to. There was good attendance on Friday, but the show was set up nicely and it didn't feel so crowded that you couldn't walk or see anything.

I think TR was about 40-50 percent of the show. That's not my field of interest, but the show is so big I was able to skip those tables and it still took all day just to get through the show once.

Yeah I know. I already had an enameled cup, but I had to pay $225 just for that!! I still cant believe the whole set was only $125. I was going to sell my other set, but my Dad wants it. I told him I'd trade for a WW2 USN helmet he has, but he doesnt want to let it go. We'll see if he bites the bullet.

Dear all -

Well, another great Show of Shows for me :). I had an absolute blast in more ways than one. My dad and brother were able to get their picture taken with a wonderful veteran - Mr. George Klein 2nd Rangers Fox Company. I think he has already shared his pics. I have some to share, but they would be of what i found at the show. Kind of like a "show and tell". Don't know how many would be interested in seeing.

Sincerely,

Christine Albin
