lettow Posted February 22, 2014 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2014 I had the honor of being a part of the VFW rifle team for the funeral of Earl Staats this morning. Earl was 17 years old when he was chosen to be a driver for General Patton. He was one of the first on the scene after the accident that killed Patton in 1945. This is a picture of the two of us after a parade in 2012. Sure, his ribbons are jacked up. I offered to fix them for him on more than one occasion but he refused. The stories this man told were incredible. Here is a link to his obituary. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/doorcountyadvocate/obituary.aspx?n=earl-staats&pid=169763455
