Thought I'd post a few shots of my collection of Marine Corps competition badges. Still new to the collecting world, but am loving every second of it. Let me know what you guys think. S/F -Maddoxpost-133515-0-40420900-1392925536.jpg

Have always liked the Blackinton match awards for Quantico, Lejeune, etc, etc... I pick them up when I see them, too. The Pendleton's are less common to stumble upon than Quantico

The nice part of these are they are an affordable, unique niche as every single medal is unique in the bars, years combos, etc

Nice assortment

Here's one last thing I picked up, it's a pistol plaque from the '56 Quantico Competition but unfortunately the name plate was removed (as far as I can tell). It's interesting that the fixture at the top is actually the same as the clasp on all of the medals... Don't know much about this piece... Be great to hear insight from one of the experts! I do have one more coming soon, a 1st Place Lauchheimer trophy. Will post photos once I receive it! Hope you guys enjoyed!

I have a plaque myself, but instead of the plate at the bottom, there are bars like those on the ribbons. My guess is that yours was just never engraved and presented as is

WOW!! Outstanding. I am new to collecting too. Any advice you could give me on how to get started on the marskmanship badges would be greatly appreciated. Just PM me any advice you can think of that would make it easier to get started.

Great collection! When were the first competition badges produced? Jeff

The first USMC shooting / competition badge was for the Elliot Trophy in 1910. I've seen only a small handful of competition badges dated before WW1.... Scarce as hens teeth!

Nice collection of current issue USMC Competition Badges. I would make one comment, the top bar on your Distinguished Pistol Shot Badge is incorrect. It looks like somebody has swapped out the correct one with one from one of the leg (E-I-C) badges. Attached picture illustrates the correct one.

Post #4 they misspelled "Pendleton". I wonder if this is an anomoly or if other years/competitions have it misspelled too. I can only imagine the Marine in charge of hosting the competition's response when he found out...
