robinb Posted February 16, 2014 Share #5 Posted February 16, 2014 It is a thermos carrier. I have the same cover but no thermos for it. Do you have any other pictures of the thermos?

David D Posted February 16, 2014 Share #7 Posted February 16, 2014 In post #3 it almost looks like the build of a M11942 canteen cover. -Dave
TheGrayGhost Posted February 17, 2014 Share #8 Posted February 17, 2014 No good pictures of just the thermos, only this additional one:
med-dept Posted February 18, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted February 18, 2014 I have one of the Thermos Flasks, so I'll try to post some photographs close-up. Regards, Ben.
crotalus358 Posted February 18, 2014 Share #10 Posted February 18, 2014 FYI. There's one up on eBay now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/US-ARMY-WWII-ORIGINAL-CANTEEN-WATER-BOTTLE-THERMOS-SHOULDER-STRAP-USA-WW2-/131116716458
ccyooper Posted February 18, 2014 Share #11 Posted February 18, 2014 It appears to be an American Thermos Bottle Company thermos. I know they made a lot of them for WWI and WWII. In WWII didn't just about every crew member have a thermos on a bomber? When I left the service you could still get them through the supply system...i.e. the silver bullet...that's what they were referred to as. ccyooper Posted February 18, 2014 Share #13 Posted February 18, 2014 The closer I look, I think it could be an early LF&C... now that we know it is listed on the bay I'll just ask the seller... CC
med-dept Posted February 19, 2014 Author Share #14 Posted February 19, 2014 I have an LF&C variant, but looking at the one in the pictures, I'd say it's more like a Stanley, to be honest. Regards, Ben.
David D Posted February 24, 2014 Share #15 Posted February 24, 2014 It sold for $450.00 -Dave
robinb Posted March 2, 2014 Share #16 Posted March 2, 2014 So did we determine the brand to be American Thermos Bottle Company, LF&C, or Stanley?
ccyooper Posted March 5, 2014 Share #17 Posted March 5, 2014 Robin, when I asked the seller to take a look he said he was worried about getting the thermos back in the case and would not remove it. So I guess the new owner will have to tell us if he is on the forum.
med-dept Posted March 7, 2014 Author Share #18 Posted March 7, 2014 I'm almost certain that it's a Stanley. I'll try to post photographs of my LF&C over the weekend for reference. I sold my Stanley last year, and unfortunately no longer have any photographs of it for comparison. Cheers, Ben.
med-dept Posted March 9, 2014 Author Share #19 Posted March 9, 2014 Sorry it took so long to get these. Here are two photographs of my LF&C for reference. As you can see, the spout is different to the one pictured, hence my assumption that the one shown in the auction is indeed a Stanley-brand example. Thanks, Ben.
