google G519 for any and all info on WWII US issue bikes...there was no military designation prior 1939...civilian bikes were bought and used, so even though your is post war and a 24 inch...it will work for reeancators...better than the 1960 Schwinns that are painted OD and have a mussett bag on the handle bars...

here is a good link...there are many others

here is what I started with.. a bent up 1936 ( I think, based on SN) Columbia

the handle bars are reported to be G519 original ...factory OD paint...

anyway not a G519 but it meets my needs...

Awesome thanks for the info!!!

Still keeping an eye out for a more correct bike but they seem few and far between, at least at reasonable prices haha.

My WW2 8 speed army replica bicycle. It has been ridden a few miles. Has grenades, trenching tool, a military compass, an ammo box and a head light that I am getting ready to install. The paint was stripped and painted original OD. I thought it was pretty cool myself. What do you all think? I am enjoying this topic and all of the rare posts.

Vette,

Too cool - I love the look of your bike!

I don't know anything about military bikes, but yours sure has the right Look and feel. You need a leather scabbard with a replica Thompson on the front.

Very cool idea and I bet it turns a lot of heads!

Still have my heart set on owning one or a look-a-like, one day :)

I wish "The Steady Classic" was easier to import into Europe, It would be great as a starting frame.
