Fezman92 Posted February 11, 2014 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2014 I picked up a Nomex flight suit from eBay a few days ago. It is the smallest size I could find, 32R and also very comfy. When I got it I knew it would be big on me. I'm 5'1.25 and about 100LBS. Naturally the suit is a bit big. Can I just run it in the wash a few times to get it to shrink? Thanks. David. m1ashooter Posted February 11, 2014 Share #2 Posted February 11, 2014 Doubt it will shrink.
Fezman92 Posted February 11, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted February 11, 2014 Ok if there isn't a chance of getting it to shrink, what would be the best size for me if there is one?
101CH47 Posted February 11, 2014 Share #4 Posted February 11, 2014 I would say you have probably reached the lowest end of the sizes. If it is one of the older ones do not try washing it in hot water to shrink it, all you will do is end up screwing up the cloth that covers zipper. m1ashooter Posted February 11, 2014 Share #5 Posted February 11, 2014 Try This. You might have the smallest they make or you might try a womens flight suit.
Fezman92 Posted February 11, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted February 11, 2014 Thanks. I've been doing some looking and I would most likely need a women's size although I think it may be cheaper for me just to go to the cleaners to get it altered. monsoon Posted February 23, 2014 Share #7 Posted February 23, 2014 Where is the suit "a bit big"? I know that it seems like 99% of the suits I was issued, if they fit in the legs, the crotch was baggy. If they fit in the crotch, they had "high water" legs. I'd rather have the legs fit so I just didn't worry too much about it. Most of the guys I flew with felt the same way.
cepilot Posted February 25, 2014 Share #8 Posted February 25, 2014 If money's not a problem, there is always Gibson and Barnes , custom made to fit flight suit ..about $225 BUT they may do alterations for a price .. they are specialist on Nomex , which a local place might just sew it up with cotton thread .. Johnny Signor Posted March 2, 2014 Share #9 Posted March 2, 2014 Try the various online surplus shops that deal with aviation gear , they may be able to help you find a good size one ........................
