In this topic some USMC purchase order jungle food bags were posted. I have been thinking about these USMC bags and have come to the conclusion they are bogus, fake just like the Russian lend-lease being stamped with USMC and other known fallacies. These food bags can be found with no markings. To many details on these bags do not add up. first we have nomenclature, the correct nomenclature is Bag, Food, Waterproof, Jungle. The USMC bags break all the rules and in one case it is completely backwards stamped Jungle Food Bag having proper descriptive grammar. These bags were purchased under Army specifications specifically No.232 note these USMC bags are using the wrong specification No.642...not even close. Next is the stock number, it to breaks all the standard rules of proper federal standards using an A in place of the correct B. Any Food bag that is QM contracted are stamped with spec. 232, 232A or 232B, all have standard nomenclature and correct stock number with B. So all of a sudden the USMC purchases these bags under Army QM specification but changes everything even specification? Not possible as they to have to follow federal guidelines for nomenclature and stock classes. Here is a perfect example of a Army QM bag manufactured by Rand dated Dec. 1943 and then compare to USMC bag by same manufacturer dated Sept. 1943. Completely different and using Army QM spec 642. Though still trying to identify even if it existed the number is way to high for example the PQD on the M-1944Ike jacket is only 437. It is not looking good for the Rand Rubber USMC bag.
