Martygraw Posted February 4, 2014 #1 Posted February 4, 2014 This badge was grouped with a black Nazi wound badge and a Kreigsmarine flag--all vet bringbacks. I posted this in the U.S. badge forum as well.
501stGeronimo Posted February 4, 2014 #2 Posted February 4, 2014 It's US, is it Bakelite? The Crossed Cannons with the round in the middle signify Coastal Artillery.
Cobrahistorian Posted February 4, 2014 #4 Posted February 4, 2014 Looks like a souvenir or unauthorized DUI from the 110th AAA Gun Battalion. They were one of seven AAA battalions (and the only 90mm Gun Battalion) to land on D-Day.
Cobrahistorian Posted February 4, 2014 #6 Posted February 4, 2014 Could be 112th AAA Gun Battalion now that I'm looking closer at the numbers.
Martygraw Posted February 4, 2014 Author #7 Posted February 4, 2014 Where would a soldier have worn this?

DUI's are not my expertise, but I believe some of them were made in Bakelite during WWII in the name of conserving metal.
irish Posted February 5, 2014 #9 Posted February 5, 2014 You have this running on 2 different threads. It is a German made plastic "bakelite"? DI. Likely early post WW2, these were worn in pairs on the lapels of the Ike jacket and one on the O.S cap. It is a AAA unit "Anti-Aircraft Artillery. A number of units AAA,Engineers etc had these made in plastic while still in Germany. They were worn and to a degree authorized as a number of these units did not have an approved metal/enamel DI prior to the end of the war. I remember reading in old ASMIC catalogs that these were made in "a little factory north of Frankfurt". this may have been tongue in cheek, meaning the location of the factory was unknown, or there may well have been such a place north of Frankfurt. PS, many of the WW2 AAA Bn's were derived and formed from old Coast Arty units, hence the Coast Arty crest at top of the DI shown Dug out my DI catalogs. This is the 110th AAA Bn. (Gun) (Mobile), "As noted above by CH" Likely a towed AAA unit as opposed to a quad gun configuration mounted to a half track
Martygraw Posted February 5, 2014 Author #10 Posted February 5, 2014 THANK YOU, GENTLEMEN! I used all the resources I had available to try to figure out what this is, to no avail.
Guest jim clark Posted December 15, 2015 #11 Posted December 15, 2015 Does anyone know where I might find a 110th AAA Bn Di as in the photo above? I am restoring an M4 high speed tractor used to tow the 90mm aaa gun which will be marked up as 110th AAA Bn Just trying to get the right insignia for the uniform. Thanks Jim.
