FAAA Posted February 4, 2014 Share #1 Posted February 4, 2014 For the last 4 or 5 years the First Allied Airborne Association have been in Aldbourne for Remembrance Sunday supporting the Screaming Eagles American memorial day. The Normal service of remembrance takes place and 11 o clock where we join the local villagers outside their memorial hall. When all the locals move inside after the wreath laying the FAAA Color Guard move to the church for rehearsals before a quick lunch in the blue boar pub. The afternoon service was this year attended by three senior American officers and their families as well as locals and a contingent from the Screaming Eagles Living History Group. Our part is to provide the 101st Color Guard. this year the Color Guard was made up from experienced guys from the FAAA Honor Guard as well as new guys to the squad, all performed impeccably, so much so the senior American Officer and former E Company Commander, Lt Col Houston made special mention of the troops performance during the service. While it is appreciated that for many in the hobby what we do at Aldbourne and elsewhere is not fully understood, it is part of what we do and have always done in the First Allied Airborne Association. Again thank you to the Screaming Eagles for the invite and well done to Ben, Possum, Dane, JJ, Steve and Peter . Below is a selection of pictures taken during the memorial day. Thank you Robin for some of the pictures. FAAA members relax at lunchtime between to Remembrance day morning service and the American memorial service.
