Chap15 Posted February 1, 2014 #1 Posted February 1, 2014 Had a chance to visit the Australia National War Museum. The Vietnam static display was the best I ever seen. It had sound, lights and wind.
Chap15 Posted February 1, 2014 Author #5 Posted February 1, 2014 Most of the WWI section was closed. Still, this was a cool display.
Chap15 Posted February 1, 2014 Author #15 Posted February 1, 2014 I left a patch. The Australians are true Warriors. I will go to war with them anytime. Their MDMP process has something that we should adopt into our MDMP, IMO.
Chap15 Posted February 1, 2014 Author #16 Posted February 1, 2014 In Sydney, there is a fountain dedicated to the men who fought at El-Alamein. This was special for me since I found a helmet at El-Alamein in the Australian sector.
Dutchy357 Posted February 1, 2014 #18 Posted February 1, 2014 Hi Chap Glad you enjoyed your visit to the AWM! It is an awesome place! It is a place all Australians should visit as a child, as a young adult and then take their children there in time. Australians might then appreciate the debt we owe to the previous generations of our service men and women!! Regards Dutchy

Regards Dutchy Dutchy, The city of Canberra was empty but when we went to the museum it was packed. The local people we encountered seemed to understand their role in history and in the present.
king802 Posted February 1, 2014 #20 Posted February 1, 2014 I took a trip down to visit the museum many years ago when I lived in Sydney. It was well worth the trip. Reminded me a lot of the Imperial War Museum here in London. Thanks for posting, brought back some memories. Rich
Proud Kraut Posted February 1, 2014 #21 Posted February 1, 2014 Magnificent! Thank you for sharing these pics with us! Lars
Backtheattack Posted February 1, 2014 #23 Posted February 1, 2014 Great Museum, thank you for the pictures. Thank you for the pictures of El Alamein, too. Found two weeks ago the report of General Weber, German Army, copies from his original documents his family has dealing with his fighting in Africa. Africa is not part of my interest, but own some copies from Operation Torch, and now the german side of war.
irish Posted February 1, 2014 #24 Posted February 1, 2014 Very nice, the Viet display looked good. The Aussies have a great military heritage, no nonsense and tough. Thanks for the pics
gwb123 Posted February 2, 2014 #25 Posted February 2, 2014 Super! Always our ally! Many of us will not be able to make the trip down under, so thanks for sharing!
