2Dogs Posted February 1, 2014 #1 Posted February 1, 2014 Found this today while cleaning out his wife's home. Charles E. Harvey, Sgt. 9136th TSU QMC ASFTC. I can not find any info on this unit. His awards are EAME w/ 4 Bronze service stars, American Defense Service Ribbon, Purple Heart, GCM. Wounded on 15 Dec. 1943, Italy. What I have questions about is the Data plate. What is it from? On the back is engraved "6-10-44 ANZIO EXPRESS" with a gun tube.
RustyCanteen Posted February 1, 2014 #4 Posted February 1, 2014 Very interesting group. Your man would have been assigned to a Truck Company. Unfortunately I don't think there are many unit histories for the QMC related units. RC
2Dogs Posted February 1, 2014 Author #5 Posted February 1, 2014 I know that when the guns were captured, they were shipped back to the U.S. I wonder if his unit was apart of the move. You are right, there is almost no info on Trans Co. for WWII or Korea.
mvmhm Posted February 1, 2014 #6 Posted February 1, 2014 "Bremse" is the German word for "Brake" - the company is still in business, and made/makes railway braking systems: http://www.knorr-bremse.com/en/global/ Mark sends
2Dogs Posted February 1, 2014 Author #7 Posted February 1, 2014 I just learned that TSU stands for Technical Service Unit. Maybe the data plate came off of one of the rail cars that was used to support the Anzio Express.
