This plaque was made and presented to me after I returned to the unit in 1972 from the hospital in Da Nang. We were shot down during a night mission near the border of Laos by small arms, RPG and 37mm AA. The plaque was made by cutting a B-40 rocket in half and mounting it to a board from a 2.75" rocket box. The B-40 rocket measures 19" and is mounted on a board measuring 25 1/2" X 7 1/4".

The back of the board has the lot number of the rockets, "LOT LOP - 267-8, and reads Loaded 10-70, stock nr 1340-191-3315-H534. Its hard to see but there is Chinese writing on the tube of the rocket between the fins and warhead. The inscription reads "Presented to Cpt Terryl R. Morris, cracked back 33, from the Officers of D Co, 101 Avn Bn (Hawks). I had received several gun shot wounds and my back was fractured in two places in the crash, hence the "Cracked Back 33" in the inscription. My call sign was "Hawk 33".
