David D Posted January 25, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2014 I bought an original M1937 wool shirt off eBay and it arrived today. It has a 28th infantry division patch on it but im not sure if it is original to the jacket should I take it off or keep it on. The other is what size would 15.5 over 33 be by size I mean like 34, 36 etc. excuse my stupidity. -Dave
knd643 Posted January 25, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 25, 2014 I would keep it on if your not sure. I could be original to it.
svt40 Posted January 25, 2014 Share #3 Posted January 25, 2014 The size refers to the neck and arm length. I am not sure what chest size they would correspond to. I know I fit loosely in a 17x33 and I wear a 48 shirt.

AAF_Collection Posted January 26, 2014 Share #5 Posted January 26, 2014 Can you add pictures of the patch on the shirt? and have you looked at the stitching under a UV light to see if it glows?. Matt.
David D Posted January 26, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted January 26, 2014 I will post pictures but I think it was used in the 1970s/1980s for re-enacting because there is a laundry code in sharpie in very bad hand writing and there is a light patch ghost but it is lighter than the rest of the shirt shouldn't it be darker and I am not sure about the patch because I don't have a UV light. -Dave
boyt44 Posted January 27, 2014 Share #7 Posted January 27, 2014 A 15 1/2" neck is going to roughly be a "medium" or about a size 40. Dress shirts are usually sized like this-neck size and sleeve length.
