Military-Memorabilia Posted January 25, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2014 I just recently had come in this interesting item. I can find no references to it in my research. I hope one of you equipment specialists can help me out! This first photo is the top of the case. It has a wooden carrying handle, with a spring-wire closing mechanism. Military-Memorabilia Posted January 25, 2014 Author Share #11 Posted January 25, 2014 Here's how you open the case, it is accomplished by lifting the lower wire handle up releasing the spring wire lock around the wooden handle base:

Military-Memorabilia Posted January 25, 2014 Author Share #13 Posted January 25, 2014 Wow - that ID didn't take long. I didn't even get all the photos posted! Thanks everyone!!! So I assume (rightly or wrongly) that the stenciling is to convert this captured item into something like a suitcase for personal use? Does anyone have the interpretation of the designation after Mr. Nichol's name (CM 2/C)? Also, just to pick minds a little more, what would be a fair value of this piece of captured German ordnance? Alan Schaefer Posted January 25, 2014 Share #15 Posted January 25, 2014 Hi David, You're wondering about price on this latest treasure you found, since you want to re-sell it, correct, and not give it away? Sadly your case is missing the all-important rack which makes the case valueable. The rack is usually missing from these cases. There is a COMPLETE CASE for sale currently on the Werhmacht-Awards.com/forums e-stand, under the "firearms and ordnance", which is priced outrageously high. The seller listed it at 2K, and has dropped it immediately down to 1.5K, and recently bumped it up to top of list with no reduction. I seriously doubt the seller will move his item at 1.5K with the rack intact inside, on the WA e-stand. You suggested to me via phone call a few moments ago that it might be worth $150 in this condition without the rack. I'm not sure if that is an accurate price for the case or not. Maybe someone will chime in on here and steer you in the right direction as far as an accurate and realistic retail price for your item. Best Regards, Alan
pzjgr Posted January 26, 2014 Share #16 Posted January 26, 2014 Most likely it is a grenade case, but it also could be a case for the 3,7cm FlaK or PaK ammo. I have one for the 3.7cm guns, it'll hold 12 rounds of 3,7cm ammo. It also has a rack inside, but the "case" is identical.... I would guess without any interior racks, your estimate is right on, I would say anywhere between $100 and $200 as is... I would say $1500 for a complete one is crack smoking territory! But stranger things have happened...
