Welcome to the forum. You're at the right spot as there are a few of us the specialize in the Philippines and who are also members of OMSA and or ASMIC as well. My areas of focus are the Philippine Constabulary, Philippine Scouts and Philippine National Guard (PING) for both the Insular and Commonwealth periods. If you do forum searches for Philippine Constabulary, and Philippine Scouts, you will quickly get a sense of the collectors in those areas. Feel free to reach out. All the best. J

dear sirs

i would like to post some pictures of my philippine constabulary pre-war collection. i am having a hard time posting because the maximum is 150kb only. any suggestions on how can i keep it down to 150k,(most of my pictures are 500kb)?.

Thanks. I have often had the same challange as I am used to shooting high resolution images with my large format digial camera. I have found two ways to get my images into the system. One option is to reduce your camera setting to low resolution and small/smallest image size your camera offers. If you are dumping you hotos and editing them in Iphoto, you can again do your editing/cropping and adjust the picture, and when saving it, save it in the smallest file size.

The last way I handle mine and when I am not looking for the highest quality, but need to post a quick image to make a point, I take the photo on my Iphone and edit and crop it and that use that image. These are generally small and you just save it as a smaller file.

Hope this helps. Look forward to hearing about to your collection.

All the best. J

many thanks for the suggestions. i really want to share some photos of my collection. i'm sure some collectors will find it very interesting, especially mr. argonaut. i have been wanting for the longest time to meet people who share my interest. there are not too many people in my country who share my interest in prewar militaria - medals, insignias, expert badges. again many thanks

by the way. i added replacement ribbons in the luzon and visayan campaign medals but the almost disintegrating original ribbons and original brooch are just beside the medals. the long service medal with star (25 years service) has the original ribbon. the philippine world war 1 medal has no more ribbon but i still have the original brooch with some strands of the original ribbon. all the medals and the expert pistol and carbine badges belong to the gentleman in the picture.

i also have the 1921 (20th year anniversary) album of the philippine.costabulary,. wherein you will be able to read the military history of all officers (including the officer in the picture)still serving at that particular period of time (1921). many of the future p.c. chiefs are there - generals castaneda, duque, selga, ramos, paulino santos, de los reyes, jalandoni, francisco ,etc. when they were still captains and lieutenants.

we seldom see a medals group of a philippine.constabulary. officer in this time period (early 20s)because almost all probably got lost or discarded. i have been collecting for almost a decade now and i know many of the collectors here in the philippines and i have never come across this unique medal group.

hope you enjoy the pictures

Welcome mov!

I thought you said you had a modest collection? Looks like a very great one to me.

Really a fantastic collection. I hardly ever get a chance to see Philippine Army and Constabulary items, so thanks for posting them.

Great Grouping. WE should pull together all the Philippine Collectors on the forum and set up a page and ask everyone to add to one page all insigna, weapons, medals etc so we have one central reference point.

a picture of my miniature commonwealth type mov (type 3 mov ) which i got from one of the bourses at our local auction several years ago. nobody at the auction seemed to have noted the rarity of the piece. i got 3 pieces from a jar full of military pins offered in one of the bourses. i had a replacemeny ribbon made especially for the medal.post-151301-0-51923500-1392274857.jpgpost-151301-0-51923500-1392274857.jpg
