firefighter Posted August 8, 2016 Share #202 Posted August 8, 2016 Here's one I picked up recently. The ship was commissioned in 1941 and decommissioned in 1968. So that gives a pretty narrow timeframe on the age of the badge. I'm thinking it was used in the 1960 to 1968 timeframe given the Large Burgess pin catch. bad88.jpgbad888.jpg Nice looking two tone badge
TCSchultz Posted February 12, 2017 Share #203 Posted February 12, 2017 I got this badge as part of a WW2 US Navy Grouping for a sailor who served in the Pacific as well as Europe but not post war so I will have to assume it's WW2 period. No ship name or maker's marks but as noted it says U.S. Navy Police Petty Officer with the numeral 10. Brass construction with a soldered on pinback with C closure to the reverse measuring 1 5/8" in width by 1 7/8" in height. Here's the front: And the reverse. I went through this entire thread and saw several that had the same shield style but none that matched the working so perhaps it's one of a kind. Too bad it didn't come with an ID or a ship name to put it to too.
BROBS Posted February 12, 2017 Share #204 Posted February 12, 2017 I would say ww2 period and shipboard or theatre made. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

hink441 Posted August 20, 2017 Share #209 Posted August 20, 2017 Nice there looks to be a makers mark on it?Yes, it is marked Nielsen MFG Co. Chehalis, Washington 2009 The ship was commissioned in 2010. So that would make this an original un-issued badge. Chris
